Climate

The climate is mild and constant throughout the year, with temperatures ranging between 24/28°C. At night, in the rainy season, temperatures can fall to 15/16°C, making the use of warm clothes necessary. The rainy season, characterized by short and intense rainfalls, goes from April/May to October/November in the south of the country.

Visa and Traveling Formalities

A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure is required, with at least two blank pages. The tourist visa can be purchased directly upon arrival, at the airport or before departure at the Uganda High Commission in Ottawa. An international vaccination Certificate of Vaccination against Yellow Fever is required.

Required vaccinations

Vaccination against Yellow Fever is mandatory, to be done at least 3 weeks before departure. Anti-malaria prophylaxis is also recommended. Ask your local healthcare provider well in advance to get more detailed information.

Language

English is the official language. Many local languages are also spoken in Uganda. People in the Gulu area traditionally speak Acholi.

Airports

The Entebbe International (EBB) is very close to Kampala. The following international air companies have flights to Uganda: Brussels Airlines, KLM, British Airways, Kenya Airways, Egyptair, Ethiopian Airlines and South African Airways.

Clothes

Casual clothes are recommended for safaris. Bring light clothes and preferably keep your arms and legs covered. Also bring a hat, a raincoat and sports shoes (preferably waterproof). Warm clothes (such as a tracksuit and jacket) are useful at night.
