The Foundation
Sources of funding
The Foundation takes its annual revenues chiefly from two sources: individual donations, eligible for an income tax deduction, and contribution to specific projects run by St. Mary's Hospital Lacor.
Expenses trends
Up to 2023, the Foundation's labour costs contributed to keep administrative cost relatively high. Starting in 2024, the Board assessed and reviewed its main business processes and the administrative or running costs of the Foundation started to decrease markedly. The review coincided with the arrival on the Board of a director with strong international development and financial management experience, knowledgeable in state-of-the-art administrative processes in the sector.
Today, administrative expenses are at a minimum and operating expenses are at a sustainable level, which ensures transparency as well as strong management of the donations and contributions that the funders of the Foundation expect. The majority of administrative expenses are directly related to the mandate, which is to support Lacor Hospital. In addition to the transfer of funds, there is a transfer of knowledge which strenghthens the administrative functions of the Hospital in support of its founders' vision.
St. Mary's Hospital's overview
Hospital patients cover between 27 % and 30 % of the Hospital's operating costs. In an environment where there is no universal health care, nor any capacity to fund one, St. Mary's Hospital Lacor stands out: it refuses care to no one.
