We are pursuing Lucille and et Piero's dream to provide the best possible health care to the greatest possible numbers, et the lowest possible cost thorugh the hospital that they developed in Norther Uganda over a life time.

The Teasdale-Corti Foundation's mission is to support St. Mary's Hospital Lacor (a.k.a. Lacor Hospital)—the largest not-for-profit private hospital in Northern Uganda.

The board

The board's role is not only to support the hospital's mission but also to see to the application of the highest standards of stewardship in order to comply to the requirements of the Canadian authorities that confer fiscal advantages to our generous donors. The board also strives to minimise the Foundation's administrative costs through the wealth of expertise it has at his disposal, through its board directors.

The board meets regularly to discuss current business, monitor the progress of its grants and make decisions regarding the Foundation's operations.

The Foundation's board is composed of the following persons:

CPA et MBA, Gilles has ore than 20 years of experience at Hydro-Québec in finance and management information. His experience also includes work with Bombardier as well as owning and managing a hardware store. He is a nephew of Lucille Teasdale and has been on the Foundation's board since 2001.

Dominique studied medecine. She is the president of the Corti Foundation in Italy and sits on the board of St. Mary's Hospital Lacor. She has sat on the board of prestigious organizations such as the International Development Research Centre, in Ottawa, Canada.

Born in Montréal and raised in La Malbaie, Sylvain is both a civil engineer and a certified professional accountant. He has been the Chief Financial Officer of the the International Development Research Centre where he first gained expertise in the management of a large research grant portfolio spanning multiple developing countries.

On the board sinc March 2024, Sylvain's current role is to enforce control on project disbursements to Lacor Hospital and on other Foundation expenditures. He also serves as secretary of the Foundation.

Sylvain currently sits on other boards, including WaterAid Canada where he chairs their Finance and Audit Committee.

A native of Chicoutimi, Anne has retired from the senior housing and service sector. She has a strong experience in not-for-profit management.

A family doctor since 2019, Dr Ann Isabelle Grégoire practices and teaches in Quebec frontline care of vulnerable populations. Holding a Masters in Global Health from the London School of Tropical Medicine, she is currently assistant professor in the Department of Family and Emergency Medicine at the University of Sherbrooke and Director of that university's International Health Microprogramme. Her work includes several projects with St. Mary's Lacor Hospital in Uganda, as well as international collaborative projects in Senegal, Mali and Haiti. Dr Grégoire is also serving as the primary care expert in the University of Sherbrooke’s Interdisciplinary Centre for International Health Development (CIDIS).

Dr Grégoire joined the Foundation's board in March 2026.

Gabriel Retta is a seasoned public affairs and government relations manager with over 20 years of experience in municipal, provincial and federal institutions. Throughout his career, he has contributed to decision-making on major issues that have a direct impact on the quality of life of citizens. He currently holds the position of Chief of Staff to the Chair of the STM (Société de transport de Montréal) Board of Directors, where he participates in the organization's major strategic orientations.

A Canadian of Ethiopian origin who grew up in Italy until the age of 14, Gabriel Retta brings with him a deeply human and open perspective to the world. Fluent in five languages, he has developed over the years a natural ability to bring people together, understand diverse cultural realities and forge authentic connections between people and communities.

Driven by a real desire to give back and make a concrete contribution, he has been involved over the years in federal, provincial and municipal politics, as well as with various organizations, notably by sitting on boards of directors related to youth and community economic development. His commitment is based on a simple conviction: structuring actions, carried out with rigour and humanity, can transform lives in the long term. Gabriel is on the Foundation's board since April 2026.

Francisca is President and COO of the International 
Economic Forum of the Americas
, a platform for 
economic growth and development, where she has held 
senior leadership roles since 2014.  Trained as an 
architect, she previously managed international projects 
and cultural initiatives and is co-founder of FIG Projects, 
an interdisciplinary studio focused on architecture, 
research, and the arts. She holds a PhD in Architectural 
History from the Polytechnic University of Turin and a 
master’s degree from the Berlage Institute in the 
Netherlands. Since 2024, she has also served on the Board 
of Inter Press Service (IPS), an international news agency 
focused on the Global South.

Francisca is on the Foundation's board since April 2026.
