Volunteering is the gift of one's labour. As is the case everywhere in the world, it is not possible to integrate into a workplace for a short period of time without causing disruption. For this reason, any volunteering offer of less than three months will not be considered.
It should be noted that the Foundation has an internship programme for doctors, nurses and midwives administered by the University of Sherbrooke. The University should therefore be the place to convince healthcare professionals to become an intern.
For other types of volunteering, the willingness to accept people will depend on the proposed length of stay, the expertise offered and the availability of a suitable position on the Hospital campus, as determined by the Hospital management. The foundation will not cover any costs related to the donation, except for round-trip transportation from Kampala to Gulu and local living expenses, so volunteers will have to pay for their own airfare, immunisations, visa, and travel and health insurance. The Foundation would encourage donations to offset subsistence costs.
