Uganda’s Ministry of Health regularly publishes concise and clear bulletins reporting any new cases, the number of identified contacts, and the number of days without a new case. As always during a resurgence of an epidemic, we are travelling in hospital vehicles (as opposed to contracted) as a precautionary measure.
On the road, traffic seems lighter, particularly international trucks and tourist vehicules. Everyone is happy about the consequence of traffic réduction.
Foreigners assigned to Lacor were recalled at the beginning of the outbreak, and the exchange programs planned with various universities have been postponed for the time being. The Guest House is practically deserted. There are only the two of us, a cardiologist from Surrey, and two young Ugandan IT specialists who came from Kampala to oversee the implementation of the Hospital’s new management information system.
The hospital is currently deeply involved in a pilot training program to prepare its various departments for the transition to the new management information systems.
